Growing up, David was drawn to science and chemistry and had a family friend that was a local Pharmacist. Together with his natural empathy and the buzz he gets from making a real difference to the lives of people around him made pharmacy the perfect fit.
David trained in Wellington, spent some time working in a leading pharmacy in South Auckland and has since been involved in the industry locally and nationally with organisations such as the Community Hospital Trust, the Pharmacy Guild and the local and national needle exchange. These experiences prepared him well for business ownership with Unichem Morrinsville.
“It’s more than business to me though, it’s about supporting the families that work with you as well as the patients and customers coming through the door. I take the responsibility of being part of people’s lives seriously and I am incredibly proud of the team we have created here.”
Turns out the community thinks so too. In September of 2019, Unichem Morrinsville was a Customer Service Finalist in the Matamata Piako District Business Awards.
At home, swimming, cycling and running runs in the family with David and son Liam training and competing together at the pinnacle of the triathlon calendar, the Ironman world champs at Kona, Hawaii. As of 2018, David is a 13-time Ironman finisher. If you’re interested, check out the video linked below.
David has hung up the lycra for the time being, and has traded it for the local gym, and getting out on his mountain bike from time-to-time.
